Jonathan Edward Mayhew:
Born: Aquarius metal monkey: the compassionate combative.
Raised: Non Denominational Christian (evangelical) in Sackville N.S. At the age of eight, he was replanted to the Toronto suburb of Ajax then the slightly cooler North York where he attended the Claude Watson School for the Arts. As with many interesting and outcast teenagers in the late 90s, he became fascinated with the rave scene. Many drugs were consumed. Upon the realization of his self-destruction, he quit drugs and returned to the church. He was baptized again. He had one last fight with himself and his sexuality before being inspired to allow himself to blossom. He returned to his love of art and studied painting and fashion at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. He learned what he needed and returned to Toronto before his debt inflated beyond reason. He became involved with The Whitehouse Studio Project, and has flourished in the Artist Cooperative.

I work within the context of investigating the human condition from a homosexual perspective. The work is not about an individual, rather, how experience forms one. Thoughts, perspectives and positions, constructed in marks, colours and gestures, are an automated response. The work translates into a saturation of genuine actions. The body is a point of expression; a reflection of the past, existing in the present, manipulated to attract or deter. This leaves the figure as a form to be exploited.

Justin Taylor Tate:
Justin Tyler Tate was still born in Canada, still grew up in the United States, but now lives in Estonia. Receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts from NSCAD University his work combines elements of sculpture, installation, media, and performance. Tate’s work is concerned with ideas of space, function and interactivity; he uses traditional methods of construction/fabrication in unconventional ways, altering the purpose of a space and thereby, changing how viewers experience it.

Tate has been working internationally for a number of years, his work migrating from North America to Europe and Asia. With this internationalizing, JTT’s practice has changed from studio based to a nomadic one; Tate goes where the work needs to be or makes work where he is by finding tools, materials and space to do so on site rather.

JTT is on the board of directors of Error, a registered non-profit/non-governmental organization, in Estonia. Error works towards creating cultural/educational programming by organizing workshops, other learning environments, and creating spaces for social/cultural exchange. Error uses DIY methodologies to alter the purpose of spaces through the design and construction with site-specific materials.

Mallory Diaczun:
Mallory Diaczun is continuing to use the colouring book as a medium for learning and participation. Currently obtaining her Bachelor of Education at York University, Diaczun is working with inner-city youth, as well as suburban youth, to challenge notions of power within our culture. Paying specific attention to stereotypes of gender and race, the colouring book works as a vehicle to explore representation and rebellion. Previously, Diaczun has had her artwork on view at Ecole Supérieure D'arts et Médias de Caen (Normandy, France), the Drake (Toronto), Art Metropole (Toronto), and the Blackwood Gallery (Mississauga).
